Job Description

Automation Design Engineer is responsible for researching, conceptualizing, designing, estimating, prototyping, documenting, and improving current and future industrial automated projects. The Engineer will collaborate across a multi-disciplinary group that will require exceptional communication and project management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and propose potential designs for automated projects.

  • Design or assist the software designer in specifying and Integrating Electrical, Pneumatic, and Hydraulic Control Systems Hardware for Automated Assembly, Test, and Material Handling Systems.

  • Improve and update current automated systems.

  • Develop or assist the software designer in releasing an accurate Bill of Materials.

  • Layout of electrical schematics and panel design

  • Collaborate with Controls Engineering, Machine Builder, Project Manager, Tool Makers, and Purchasing staff during the design and build process.

  • Participate in department initiatives towards continuous improvement goals

  • Assisting others with Safety Reviews and Risk Mitigation of their projects

  • Being supportive across all departments with high value and/or tight deadline projects

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • BS Engineering field. Preferably Mechanical and/or Electrical.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in design engineering position.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in automation test and assembly machine design desired.

  • Working knowledge of Solidworks 3D CAD software and Solidworks Electrical.

  • Core Mechanical knowledge base with project management skills.

  • Experience integrating automated industrial devices.

  • Hands on experience in set up and testing of automated solutions in a manufacturing environment.

  • Designing for manufacturing with understanding of cost implications.

  • Effective time management. Ability to work well with other disciplines within the organization. Ability to clearly express ideas in both verbal and written form.

  • High degree of mechanical aptitude and spatial reasoning.

  • Able to interface with customers at all levels.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: 90,000 - 135,000 per year
