The department of International Hospitality and Service Innovation at the Saunders College of Business at the Rochester Institute of Technology invites applications for the Assistant / Associate Professor of Hospitality Management. The candidate will be teaching and conducting research and service the field of hospitality management. The department is open to multiple areas of specialty with special consideration given to individuals with expertise in: event management, event sales, event technologies, sports management, entertainment management, hospitality / service technology and related fields. We’re seeking an individual who has the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and establish a strong research agenda in their area of specialty. Additionally, the Assistant/ Associate Professor should have the ability to actively engage with the hospitality industry, alumni, and relevant professional organizations. Applicants should have the skills to actively engage and mentor students and work collaboratively with faculty across the department, college, and university.

Preferred qualifications include industry experience in one or more area of hospitality management, events, sports, entertainment, hospitality technology, or related field.

This position is a 9-month tenure-track appointment with a start date of August 2025. Review of applications will begin in April 2024 and continue until the position is filled. Department/College Description

THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:
The Saunders College of Business is served by 68 full-time faculty members who value collegiality and teamwork. The college is accredited by AACSB International and offers a bachelor’s degree in business with nine different majors including Hospitality Management. Graduate programs include an MBA, executive MBA, and several Master of Science programs including a Masters in Hospitality Business Management. The college welcomed first Ph.D. class in the Fall of 2023. The Saunders College of Business is ranked among the top 100 business schools in the United States by U.S. News and World Report.

A successful candidate will join the department of International Hospitality and Service Innovation (IHSI). As one of the first programs of its kind in the nation, the IHIS department has an extensive network of successful alumni in various segments of the hospitality industry. The department offers an undergraduate major in hospitality management as well as several minors including a minor in sports, events, and entertainment.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • A doctorate (Ph.D.) in Hospitality Management, Business, or related field. The Ph.D. must be granted by an AACSB-accredited or equivalent institution. ABD candidates will be considered provided they complete their dissertation by August 14, 2025.
  • Evidence of effective teaching
  • Published scholarly articles relevant to the area of specialty
  • Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the college’s continuing commitment to cultural diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
  • Additionally, candidates for Associate Professor must have a proven record of scholarly research, evidence of teaching excellence and strong service experience.
