Function of Position:
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Associate Vice President, Technology Services reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Vice President, Administrative Services. With authority delegated by the CFO and Vice President, the CIO and Associate Vice President direct the College's technology planning, implementation, and maintenance to support the overall mission, strategic plan, and goals. The CIO and Associate Vice President is responsible for the management of all functions related to Technology Services. The CIO and Associate Vice President promote and sustain MCC's commitment to excellence and innovation in serving a diverse student body and college community. The CIO and Associate Vice President assist the College in responding to emerging issues, trends, and community needs, providing leadership that supports MCC's regional and national reputation as a leader among best practices colleges.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary Functions:
Reports directly to the CFO and Vice President, Administrative Services.Exercises delegated authority from the CFO and Vice President.Provides leadership and management for Technology Services and Print Services.Leads a shared-services technology model providing college-wide strategy, governance, infrastructure, security, and enterprise systems integration, while partnering with academic and administrative divisions that manage the functional configuration and day-to-day use of technology systems to support their operations.Leads lifecycle planning and replacement strategies for technology infrastructure and office and classroom computing, defining standards, refresh cycles, and annual budget requirements to ensure reliability, security, and long-term sustainability.Directs or performs essential operations related to the strategic and tactical coordination, implementation, and maintenance of technology for all departments and locations of MCC, including: - Administrative computing services
- Communication and network services
- Systems and integration
- Desktop computing
- Web services
- Customer support
- Data security and privacy
- Data integrity and governance
Provides vision and strategic leadership for the evaluation, adoption, and governance of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, analytics, automation, and digital platforms, in alignment with the college's mission and strategic plan.Oversight of information technology policies, procedures, and standards; ensures compliance with federal and state regulations, including data protection, digital content accessibility, and AI-related requirements.Exercises budget authority and administrative approvals.Provides and coordinates development opportunities for staff, including AI literacy, data analytics, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.Works collaboratively with campus community - faculty, staff, and students - to create a culture of student engagement and success, including participation in system-wide AI, data, and digital transformation initiatives.Develops and sustains productive and collaborative relationships across divisions and with other college constituents, as well as across SUNY.Leads, supervises, coordinates, and evaluates any direct reports, department, and program while adhering to appropriate college procedures.Performs other duties as assigned.Secondary Functions:
Serves as a liaison to college committees and initiatives as appropriate, including those related to technology governance, data strategy, AI ethics, accessibility, and digital innovation.

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institutionMinimum of five years progressive administrative experience leading Information Technology organizations, including personnel managementEvidence of effective interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate partnerships and to work with diverse groups of faculty, students, and staff on complex issuesDocumented ability to integrate data into decision making to promote effective practice and policyExpertise in information security frameworks and standards, best practice policies and procedures, tools and techniquesExperience with and enthusiasm for managing and implementing progressive change resulting in continuous improvementExperience overseeing multifaceted systems and leveraging overall system resources to deliver the optimum level of service in the most efficient manner possibleCreative ability and experience in addressing technological, organizational and budget challengesExperience in complex project managementPreferred Qualifications:
Documented experience within a diverse higher education institutionPrevious experience as a Chief Information Officer. Proven experience implementing, governing, or strategically evaluating AI-driven tools and platforms in higher education or a similarly complex environment.Experienced user of common higher education management and support systems, specifically: Ellucian Banner (SIS), Slate (CRM), Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Microsoft Office 365, Argos.Effective interpersonal skills.Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a range of $120,000 to $140,000 and is based on the aforementioned factors.

Occasional travel between campus buildings or to other local or out-of-town locations for meetings or conferences may be required.
