Job Summary

Please note-this position requires ability to work nights/weekends depending on athletics/events scheduled.

This position is responsible for maintaining a quality ice surface and supervising the student ice crew for the Gene Polisseni Center in the evenings or weekends. This person will have direct hands-on responsibility for ice maintenance including: operating equipment (including Zamboni); ice preparation for all activities; maintenance of the Zamboni, dashers, glass, and team bench areas. During the off-season responsibilities will change to building maintenance including painting locker rooms and hallways, buffing and polishing acrylic shielding, as well other repairs to the facility. Off-season will also change to daytime hours.

Job Responsibilities

  • Drive the Zamboni and execute ice cuts throughout the evening/weekend and maintain quality ice conditions. Conduct general rink maintenance and upkeep as required.
  • Supervise rink student staff on weekday evenings, weekends, and/or special events
  • Facilitate daily ice rentals for R.I.T. and non R.I.T individuals and groups.
  • Other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • 1-3 years experience-Mechanical Skills (automotive or general)
  • HS, GED
Skills
Demonstrated use of an Ice Resurfacer (Zamboni) and other ice equipment operation

PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy. (see Page 4)
