Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Inventory and Purchasing Supervisor, the Inventory Control Assistant manages the day to day operation of inventory, warehousing, and distribution of parts to the Maintenance Mechanics, Custodial Mechanic and other Auxiliary Facilities staff as needed. The Inventory Control Assistant provides support as need to all the responsibilities that fall under the Inventory and Purchasing Supervisor.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage day to day procurement, warehousing, and distribution of parts to Maintenance Mechanics, Custodial Mechanics and other Auxiliary Facilities Staff as needed.
- Monitor satellite inventory locations, restock according to min/max levels, report variances to supervisor and assist facilities mechanics with implementing an organization system for satellite inventory locations.
- Facilitate regular, scheduled, physical inventory counts of all product purchased for use in Housing and Auxiliary Facilities areas, including maintaining detailed records to ensure that variances are accounted for and reported.
- Expedite unfilled orders, manage the return or exchange of damaged or unwanted goods, handle cancellations, price and modifications of all product.
- Negotiate with suppliers to establish price, delivery, quantity, and payments for inventory purchased.
- Work with Auxiliary Facilities employees to develop specifications and identify sources of supply based on product knowledge, departmental requirements, availability, cost, and supplier relationship management.
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years’ experience managing inventory in a warehouse environment.
- Basic product knowledge of hardware products that would be typical to a residential setting.
Skills:- Demonstrated ability to work with Microsoft Office (specifically word and excel)
- Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Must be able to effectively prioritize work demands, handle multiple tasks simultaneously; work independently and with attention to detail.

Department/College Description
RIT Auxiliary Facilities and Auxiliary Services are responsible for maintaining and repairing the facilities and mechanical systems throughout RIT housing including all facilities within Global Village and other areas within Auxiliary Services and RIT as needed. The primary focus is to accomplish daily work orders, manage custodial tasks, and preventative maintenance tasks in a cost efficient manner while providing support services that exceed our customer's expectations.
