Math Lab Specialist

 

Job Summary

  • McQuaid Jesuit, a Catholic school in Rochester, NY, teaching boys’ grades 6-12, is seeking a middle school Math Lab Specialist. The Math Lab Specialist will assist students in understanding math concepts, provide one-on-one and small group support, and collaborate with math teachers to reinforce curriculum goals. This position plays a vital role in fostering student confidence, skill-building, and academic success in math

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide math instruction and tutoring to students in grades 6-12 in a lab or open-resource setting
  • Support Students with coursework ranging from Math 6 to Pre-Calculus (and/or AP-level if applicable)
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with teachers about student needs and areas of growth.
  • Assist in the development of math lab resources, activities and learning tools
  • Create a welcoming, supportive, and academically focused environment
  • Maintain records of student attendance and engagement in the math lab
  • Collaborate with the math department staff to align support strategies with classroom instruction
  • Participate in professional development and department meetings as required

  • Strong proficiency in high school-level mathematics
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with adolescents in an educational setting
  • An Excellent work ethic with a strong attention to detail

 

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Mathematics, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics
  • Prior tutoring or teaching experience in middle school and high school environment
  • Familiarity with online learning platforms and educational technology

Work Environment: Fast-paced school environment working in a school and/or office setting.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a 10-month, part-time position. (15 hours per week – non-exempt level position). Typical hours 8:15am to 11:35 am Monday through Friday.

 

Pay Range: $35 to $40 per hour.

 

Reports To: Director of Academic Cener
