Position Summary
The Urban League of Rochester is seeking a seasoned Fundraising Consultant to lead immediate revenue generation while building a strong foundation for sustained philanthropic growth.
This consultant will operate with a dual focus: securing and maintaining critical funding in the near term, while developing the strategy, systems, and donor pipeline that position the organization for long-term success under future leadership.
Working in close partnership with the Interim CEO, senior leadership, and the Board of Directors, the consultant will ensure continuity in fundraising efforts while creating a clear pathway for ongoing growth.
Scope of Work
- Drive immediate fundraising efforts across individual, corporate, and foundation giving
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with current donors and sponsors
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and close new funding opportunities
- Develop and execute a focused fundraising strategy with measurable revenue goals
- Build and organize a high-quality donor database
- Establish donor segmentation and stewardship strategies
- Lead donor solicitation efforts alongside leadership and the Board of Directors
- Ensure all fundraising activities are documented, organized, and transferable
Qualifications
- Proven track record of securing significant philanthropic support
- Experience closing major gift and sponsorships
- Ability to build fundraising systems and donor pipelines
- Strong relationship management and communication skills
- Ability to deliver both immediate results and long-term infrastructure

- Secure sponsorships and major gifts
- Execute donor asks and closing strategies
- Ongoing donor cultivation and pipeline development throughout the engagement period
Payments will be made based on the successful completion of the following milestones:
Milestone 1: Strategy, Pipeline Development, and Activation
- Written fundraising strategy with revenue targets
- Initial donor and prospect pipeline established
- Sponsorship targets identified
- Outreach launched
Milestone 2: Sponsorships and Early Revenue Commitments
- Secured sponsorship commitments (documented and/or contracted)
- Active donor engagement underway
- Revenue progress demonstrated and tracked
Milestone 3: Annual Appeal Execution and Database Completion
- Annual Appeal fully executed
- Donor database completed, organized, and segmented
- Stewardship and follow-up plan documented
Milestone 4: Final Fundraising Execution and Transition Package
Execution of fundraising efforts across all priority areas
- Demonstrated progress toward overall fundraising goals
- Delivery of final transition package, including:
- Donor pipeline and status report
- Sponsorship status and outstanding opportunities
- Strategic recommendations and next steps for incoming CEO
