Position Summary:

The role of the Production Supervisor is to oversee day to day floor operations by taking ownership of his/her area. The Supervisor manages the communication between Operations Management and the Production Team. It is imperative that this employee be adept at balancing quality and productivity demands, while maintaining a positive attitude, and modeling RPI’s values. The Supervisor is responsible for the area’s performance and compliance with established procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates effectively between and within organizational levels
  • Works to make sure production targets are met
  • Provides regular reporting of results and status
  • Balances staff to necessary cells so that all employees are equally busy
  • Provides a safe workplace and escalates unsafe conditions
  • Work productively with other shifts and departments
  • Maintain a clean shop
  • Create fair and equal accountability across all employees, including attendance, expectations, process and policy
  • Must speak tactfully and give clear expectations and direction to your team
  • Must be able to keep a professional attitude with your team at all times
  • Assess performance on a daily basis
  • Conduct Performance Reviews
  • Inform management of issues or workflow improvement suggestions
  • Be flexible and able at a moment’s notice to reduce or extend hours as needed or directed
  • Verify timecards each pay period ensuring PTO and absences are recorded and hours are accurate
  • Maintain accurate timecards through proper use of the punch clock
  • Other duties as required

  • Ensure that housekeeping standards are met and following shift is set up for success

  • Ensure that procedures are only changed through a visible process of discussion and improvement
  • Exhibit positive leadership at all times

Experience/Training

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a supervisory role in a light manufacturing environment
  • Experience in small item packaging
  • Experience with Shipping Carrier (FedEx, USPS, UPS) and related shipping software
  • Experience using Pallet Jacks and other materials movement systems
  • High School education
  • Effective and respectful communication skills – written and verbal
  • Microsoft office suite, specifically outlook for email

Physical Requirements

  • Long periods of standing
  • Able to grasp, reach, stoop
  • Able to lift up to 35lbs.
