Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Learning and Development, the Learning & Development (L&D) Consultant is responsible for furthering learning and organization development initiatives to advance RIT’s strategic goals and objectives. In partnership with HR Colleagues, this position will analyze development needs across the university population and design, develop, deliver, and assess employee, leadership, and organizational development programs to meet those needs and enhance the employee experience at RIT.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, deliver, and assess employee and leadership development programs aligned with overarching university development objectives throughout the employee lifecycle. Track and measure ongoing progress and success, adjusting methods/content as appropriate to ensure maximum impact. May be assigned responsibility for certain programs.
  • In collaboration with leaders from across the university, support HR colleagues in conducting needs analyses, defining performance and operational objectives and understanding challenges and development gaps. Recommend talent development/skill building and organization development solutions that meet the colleges’ and divisions’ goals and objectives.
  • Facilitate ad-hoc interventions (e.g., talent development, learning programs, individual coaching) in a credible, influential, logical, and engaging manner appropriate to the audience and the subject matter.
  • Use multiple instructional design options and learning methodologies (e.g., classroom, online, blended, distance learning methods, individual coaching, team/group learning) to deliver creative and innovative development solutions.
  • Collect and analyze talent development data, synthesize themes and trends, and summarize and present data in formats appropriate for the audience, relative to development needs and initiatives.
  • Remain current, and advise HR Colleagues as needed, with regard to developments in employee training, instructional methodologies and instructional technology applications.
  • Provide input to and assist with setting departmental goals and objectives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (HR, training/instructional design, organizational psychology, or related field preferred)
  • 4 years’ experience leading and deploying workplace training/e-learning efforts on various topics, using various methods to various audiences (all employee levels). Instructional design certification preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts (experience leading change management efforts preferred)
  • Experience with technology associated with learning and development, e.g. Learning Management System (LMS)

  • Comfort with and ability to learn, use and recommend technology applications related to instruction (i.e., LMS, Captivate, Adobe) and general office technology (Microsoft Office)
  • Maintain confidentiality and high standard of ethics

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • 2 years’ experience in leadership development and coaching
  • Related certifications
