The Director, Talent Management is responsible for executing on the Human Resources (HR) strategy in support of the enterprise mission, vision, goals, and objectives. Partners with executive leaders at the highest level of organizational strategy with direct responsibility for advancing business strategy through effective application of human resources and talent management practices. As such, this role is accountable for high-level consulting, problem diagnosis, and solution development in support of core business goals and objectives. Identifies divisional HR priorities to support functional strategies in a manner that drives consistency across all the enterprise. The incumbent is responsible for the execution of corporate HR strategies within divisions and identification and execution of human resources priorities at the divisional level. This may include leadership development and coaching, culture advancement, workforce and talent planning cycles, organizational design and consultation.

Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (includes but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for deploying corporate HR strategies within assigned division, ensuring appropriate communication, change management and execution and enabling a closed feedback loop back into human resources.

  • Leads the development and implementation of divisional HR priorities on an annual basis in order to advance divisional strategies through talent practices in alignment with corporate HR strategies.

  • Acts as an integral part of, and trusted advisor to, the division and its Senior Leadership team by developing effective working relationships, influencing, and challenging the team, and the development and delivery of their talent plans in support of the achievement of the enterprise, business area, and HR goals.

  • Partners closely with HR centers of excellence in a hub and spoke model to understand key strategies and also inform matters related to employee relations, legal issues, compensation, talent acquisition and training/organizational development. Coordinates development of talent management programs, systems, and processes to support the business. Improves organizational effectiveness through the development and deployment of solutions to drive a performance culture.

  • Maintains an understanding of the client organization’s financial position, position in the marketplace, short- and long-range goals, and strategic plan to assess and anticipate talent-related needs. Participates in or leads business projects relying on critical business acumen.

  • Supports business objectives in the areas of leadership and high potential development, succession planning, organizational design, workforce planning, compensation, organization change management, cultural advancement, employee engagement, retention, and professional development.

  • Leads the division’s performance management processes in alignment with corporate performance management and compensation philosophy, including proper goal setting and tracking, effective ‘check-in’ conversations, skill and competency development and calibration of performance.

  • Educates the employees in the HR division on key business strategies and initiatives, to ensure ongoing prioritization and planning can take place.

  • Partners with all levels of leadership to identify and develop talent management strategies, identify gaps, and plan processes to support business initiatives.

  • Prepares and analyzes talent-based metrics and provides reports that support decision making in specified areas.

  • Participates in succession planning and key talent review meetings and oversee strategies to accelerate development of key talent and successor candidates. Owns high-potential management and development programs that align with long-range business strategies.

  • Partners with internal stakeholders to implement strategies for employee engagement and retention. Monitors and assesses employee engagement, aligns programs with enterprise strategy.

  • Assesses and builds upon current strategies in alignment with our Lifetime Way values and behaviors in support of our enterprise strategies. Champions the organization’s journey in building a diverse workforce and a culture of inclusion.

  • Directs and leads their team in providing high quality Talent Management services through value-added and innovative initiatives focused on enabling the division to be best-in-class.

  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends and advises corporate leadership on needed actions.

  • Maintains in depth knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment as it relates to employment law, to evaluate and resolve complex employee relations issues and reduce potential risk to the business.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required.

  • Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Eight (8) or more years of progressive experience in HR or other relevant area. Healthcare experience a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree, Masters or advance degree preferred.

  • Certifications in Organizational Development such as: Coaching, Leadership 360, Crucial Conversations, Leadership Development, Teambuilding, and Communications preferred.

  • Ability to work with full autonomy to meet enterprise, HR, and client goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrated sound judgment, analytical skills, project management skills, and ability to work in a matrix environment and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously to plan and accomplish goals and objectives.

  • Superior communication skills – both verbal and written. Ability to influence others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service regions as necessary.
