The Cost Accounting Analyst serves as a key member of the O-AT-KA cost accounting team and will drive improvement in operations through consistent and accurate financial measurements. This position reports to the Cost Accounting Manager and is responsible for analysis and reporting in various aspects of the operation.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the monthly valuation of finished goods and raw material inventories
  • Prepare and submit monthly regulatory reports for dairy and alcohol utilization
  • Coordinate invoicing to members for milk received in the month
  • Assist in the month-end financial close process, including accruals and valuations
  • Facilitate and analyze raw material costing
  • Support other pricing, costing, and general ledger initiatives as needed
  • Prepare and analyze yield reporting for all manufacturing segments
  • Maintain and analyze financial and other reporting to plant management
  • Provide support in the areas of plant losses, planning, and purchasing
  • Support the annual physical inventory process
  • Prepare billing to customers for warehousing and other charges as needed
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and developing new product standards
  • Partner with management to improve controls, accuracy, and quality of manufacturing costs
  • Support the cost accounting team through the annual audit process
  • Keep management informed of task status and issues
  • Conduct work in an organized, timely, and detail-oriented manner
  • Other duties as assigned.

 Experience & Education Required:

  • BA/BS degree (Accounting or Finance preferred) and two years’ experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior cost accounting experience preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP and ethical standards associated with confidential and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Previous experience using ROSS financial software preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written)
  • Outstanding accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Demonstrates outstanding accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must participate effectively with cross-functional team environments

The Cost Accounting Analyst position will, in the course of normal duties, have exposure to the Company’s confidential financial information, customer information and labor costs.

 Management Responsibility

This is an individual contributor role with no management responsibility. The Cost Accounting Analysts works under the direction of the Cost Accounting Manager to execute routine activities with established procedures.

 Work Environment

The Cost Accounting Analyst will typically work in an office environment and will be required to spend 25% of the time working in plant environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Ability to operate a computer, phone, photocopier, calculator, and fax machine required. Incumbent must be able to sit, stand, reach, climb, walk, bend, stretch and lift up to 25 pounds. Must be able to see and speak.

The employee will be exposed to noise, wet floors, moving machinery, strong smells, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts, high speed and processing equipment; is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and hazardous chemicals; is frequently exposed to moderate to high noise levels in the work environment. The donning of personal protective equipment (PPE) including bump cap, safety glasses, hearing protection, smock and shoe covers is required

Travel Required: Occasional travel, less than 5% of time.
