Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Instrumentation and Controls Technician will be expected to understand and provide leadership to improve line effectiveness and reliability of electrical, electronic and mechanical systems by performing the following:

 

  • Facilitate control and wiring diagrams and equipment troubleshooting
  • Application of electrical standard and regulation codes.
  • Facilitate development/enhancements of preventive maintenance and troubleshooting guides for electrical, electronic, process control, data systems and equipment
  • Conduct training on electrical, electronic, mechanical, process control, data systems and equipment
  • Be the owner of the plants instrumentation, controls and calibration

 

Primary Role and Responsibilities

  • Enhance the Beaver Dam facility’s electrical/electronic systems. Work with production, maintenance, management, and equipment operators to improve the equipment’s electrical systems and controls, including:
    • Provide technical support and training to plant electrical, electronic, servers and process control systems
    • Develop and modify software programs
    • Evaluate and recommend selection of electrical and electronic components to provide a high degree of reliability
    • Using AutoCAD, update equipment documentation and electrical prints as changes are made or observed
    • Maintains up-to-date library of all PLC programs (but hard copy and disk)
    • Maintain data systems (servers, HMI’s, laptops)
    • Facilitate efforts to develop component list for rebuild kits, assemblies and standby equipment
    • Recommend/implement continuous improvement on equipment, electrical/electronic components, and system design to improve line effectiveness and equipment reliability
  • Work with maintenance, production management, and individual maintenance employees to plan and schedule work through the following tasks:
    • Visit job site
    • Develop Bill of Material (B.O.M.)
    • Facilitate part requests from Maintenance Employees
    • Coordinate required labor resources to perform job
    • Analyze job performance measures for continued improvement
  • Facilitate the installation of electrical systems:
    • Electrical/control schematics and control cabinet drawings and instruction manuals for electrical systems of new installations
    • Maintains, “as built” electrical and pneumatic schematics and works in conjunction with project engineering draftsman to insure the drawing files are up to date
    • Recommend electrical systems, materials, PM program, technical training and spare parts for all new installations

 

  • Own the plant calibration program:
    • Work with quality, maintenance, and production personnel to ensure regular calibration of the plants CCP and critical instrumentation.
    • Maintain documentation of calibrations/verifications of plant instruments and control devices.

 

  • Maintain the plant's Calibration Program including the defined calibration procedures, the plants master calibration list, and any documentation required for audits
  • Work with the engineering and plant electrical departments to ensure any changes or new installation of control devices are documented on the master calibration list. Identify and/or define the proper calibration requirements for any new installations.

 

  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Utilize the SAP systems to document maintenance activities
  • Conform to Kraft GMPs and perform area housekeeping duties
  • Support Plant Quality Systems
  • Perform all work in a safe and efficient manner consistent with lockout/tagout, hot work, fall protection, confined space and other OSHA regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Maintenance Manager
  • Provide leadership in failure analysis to determine root causes of reoccurring failures
  • Provide leadership to increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness for Kraft Beaver Dam
  • Support plant goals in achieving world class Predictive Maintenance status.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds per NIOSH lifting equation and utilize plant approved safe lifting practices for over 50 pounds
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills in both verbal and written form
  • Demonstrates problem solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrates flexibility to work extended shifts or hours when required
  • Must be able to work in a team environment
  • Must adhere to all Kraft Policies as stated in the Employee Handbook and follow internal Kraft Procedures

 

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

Education Level:
High School Diploma/GED

 

Additional Education/Certification/Skills: 

English Language Skills – Able to speak, read, and write
