General Job Summary:

This position involves utilizing job production documentation to select, load, and align tools into press brake machines for the production of metal parts from raw stock. The role emphasizes maintaining the safety integrity of the tools and ensuring the quality of the finished parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all safety processes and procedures are defined for the job.
  • Review job description (job traveler) and determine tool requirements.
  • Utilize material handling equipment to load and align the appropriate tool into the press brake machine.
  • Set up blanks for forming in the machine.
  • Select appropriate packaging material and set up supply.
  • Produce the first part to ensure quality.
  • Confer with toolmakers and quality personnel to resolve problems.
  • Inspect the first run of the part, submit to inspection for blue tag, and run parts.
  • Instruct the machine operator on part production.
  • Perform periodic quality checks.
  • Schedule work on various press brake machines to meet daily and weekly production requirements.
  • May train new brake operators.
  • May assist in scheduling jobs in other presses.
  • Maintain inventory of tools and fixtures.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Education

  • High School Diploma: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred Education: One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.

Experience

  • Related Experience: 2-3 years of related experience or training.

Computer Skills:

Basic

Other Requirements:

Understanding and ability to use inspection gauges (verniers, micrometers, height stand, pins) and material handling equipment.

Salary25.00 - 34.00 Hour
