Purpose: Five Star Bank is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team. This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data infrastructure and pipelines that support business intelligence, analytics, and data science initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for building high-performing teams.


Essential Functions:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data analysts.
  • Design and implement scalable, reliable, and secure data pipelines and architectures.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance across all data systems.
  • Drive best practices in data engineering, including code quality, testing, and documentation.
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and team performance.
  • Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to improve data infrastructure.
  • Monitor and optimize data workflows for performance and cost-efficiency.
  • Demonstrate the standards and principles of the Five Star Bank experience in every interaction with internal and external customers, associates, and stakeholders. Incorporate the high-performance behaviors of teamwork, leading by example, and service in every facet of work.

Job Related Qualifications:

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering or software development.
  • 2+ years of experience leading a team in a technical leadership or managerial role.

Competencies:

  • Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and data tools (e.g., Spark, Airflow, dbt, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data lakes, data lakehouses, data warehousing (e.g., Snowflake, DataBricks, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.).
  • Experience with real-time data processing (Kafka, Flink, etc.).
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities.


Physical Requirements:

  • Able to travel occasionally throughout corporate footprint.
  • Extensive computer usage is required.
