Description
The Community Engagement Associate develops and implements strategies to raise awareness and generate interest for the department’s programs, services, and events. The position is responsible for developing and implementing promotions, activities and special events as well as intentional work towards developing and cultivating relationships with community neighborhoods, organizations, and stakeholders. Related duties are performed as required.
This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.
A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. (See "

CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE.
Assists with coordination of events, employment fairs, special activities etc;
Coordinates and leads engagement efforts with the community, including employers, schools, vendors, residents, etc;
Develops and executes community engagement projects and special events;
Coordinates regular meetings with community members to develop partnerships and build rapport;
Gives presentations to community organizations, such as schools, faith-based institutions, and other community constituents to share information about various departmental offerings;
Responsible for the development, implementation and success of a marketing and communications plan ensuring increased visibility with public and other key constituents and stakeholders;
Leads distribution efforts of promotional materials and supplies to the community as needed;
May lead community outreach in times of neighborhood crisis or emergencies;
Creates methods to survey and collect community feedback on processes, events and community needs;
Uses Excel and Microsoft Teams to build and maintain a shared database of neighborhood resources and community partners.
I. High school diploma or Equivalent;

II. Two (2) years of experience providing program assistance in a human services, educational, recreation, public market or similar setting.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
New York State Class D Driver's License at time of appointment.
This licensure must be maintained throughout employment in this job.
