This position is remote eligible for up to 40% of the time.  Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Must be flexible to meet current and future business needs.

Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Strategy, the Analyst will work on the investment committee, having responsibility for the investment philosophy, strategy, and overall performance of ESL’s investment portfolio. This position is accountable for independently managing the development and coordination of research and due diligence/guidance on securities, mutual funds, ETFs, and other investment products for portfolio construction and management, supporting senior managers and other internal clients. Successful candidate will have unbiased judgement in managing customer and internal portfolios and comply with all regulatory, fiduciary, and credit union policies governing investment practices.  This position will design, develop and maintain ongoing analytics designed to measure and manage ESL’s internal portfolios as well as model portfolios utilized by ESL Trust Services and ESL ISLLC. 


  • Assist in the development of client presentations, institutional research on investments and investment strategies, focused white papers and timely market commentary for dissemination to clients.
  • Maintain guidance lists of securities, mutual funds and ETFs for portfolio construction and management. Evaluate client financial needs and recommend appropriate investments. Analyze investment performance and recommend changes. 
  • Utilize investment analytic services and information sources in evaluating characteristics and performance of investment vehicles. Serve as vendor manager for providers of investment strategy research and analytical systems.
  • Assist in implementing investment philosophy, strategies, policies and procedures.  Coordinate asset allocation, rebalancing, fund manager selection, model portfolio construction and working closely with internal teams.


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • CFA designation (or similar) is a plus and can be considered similar to 4 years of relevant experience
  • Masters degree in above fields is a plus and can be considered similar to 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience conducting research projects requiring data origination, manipulation and visualization.
  • Experience with advanced analytical systems, (Morningstar, Factset or equivalent)

Additional Qualifications to be considered for the Sr. Portfolio Strategy Analyst position

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience conducting intensive, hands-on research projects in the investing/financial services industry, requiring data origination, manipulation and visualization in order to make specific investment recommendations.
