CIVIL ENGINEERING SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

Marathon Engineering is a full-service Civil Engineering and Surveying firm providing services for residential, commercial, educational, and institutional projects. We were founded in 2008 with the guiding principle of providing excellent service at a fair price. Our mission is to understand our client’s goals and work collaboratively to achieve them.

Our projects include residential subdivisions of varying sizes, commercial plazas, assisted living centers, outpatient clinics, solar infrastructure, and education facilities (daycares and K-12 to universities). We provide a full suite of services: performing the initial survey, designing the site plan, obtaining approvals, and performing Construction Administration, Stakeout, and Stormwater Inspections through project completion.

We are looking for experienced, full-time Senior Project Managers to join our Rochester and Ithaca teams. This is a client-focused role; your responsibilities will include understanding the vision of the client, turning it into a working design, encompassing every aspect of drafting, development, and entitlement coordination through the end of Construction Administration, acting as a project expediter each step of the way. Attention to detail and consistency are of the utmost importance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Functioning as primary point of contact and ensuring coordination of projects with consultants, municipalities, and regulatory agencies for projects in the planning, design, permitting, and construction phases.

Providing detailed project management including the maintenance of project checklists, ensuring all necessary components are prioritized and completed prior to beginning construction. Delegating tasks and responsibilities to staff and consultants, maintaining the desired project schedule, and facilitating project close-out in a timely manner.

Completing and submitting all permit applications to the appropriate agencies and ensuring projects are compliant throughout the design and construction stages.

Providing leadership, establishing and maintaining effective and harmonious working relationships with colleagues, clients and municipal officials at all levels.

Conferring with clients, contractors and other engineers to clarify and resolve problems, preparing design modifications, as appropriate.

Delivering engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.

Developing and producing conceptual, preliminary, and final construction design drawings.

Creating, executing, and revising project work plans as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.

Effectively applying our methodology and enforcing project standards.

Ensuring project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

Balancing planning efforts with day-to-day demands.

Identifying resources needed and assigning individual responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Advanced experience in civil engineering including stormwater design, AutoCAD (Civil3D) software etc.

Demonstrated ability to deliver a completed project.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team in an open plan office setting and must have the ability to manage multiple tasks and concurrent projects at varying stages of completion.

Previous experience working with private development projects and versed in attaining agency approvals with municipalities, state, and federal entities.

Substantial experience as a Civil Project Manager, including site development and design including grading, utilities, pavement, vehicular and pedestrian circulation, stormwater management, and ADA requirements.

Displays industry knowledge and an ability to adapt to changing standards, codes, and specifications.
