TalentEdge has teamed up with an established higher education leader to fill a direct hire opportunity as a Database Administrator.

As the Database Administrator you will be responsible for providing database administration activities and system support for the ERP and other related systems. You will be a key contributor to planning, analysis, coordination, support and maintenance of the ERP system.

Job responsibilities (partial list):

  • Provide operational support for enterprise database needs

  • Manage, audit/monitor system database instances and environments including application and web servers, scalability and redundancy

  • Determine and implement dataset backup and recovery procedures

  • Consults with staff to gather information about database needs, objectives, functions, and features. Provide database design, SQL, PL/SQL tuning, and complex query writing support as appropriate for new and existing systems.

  • Create and/or maintain documentation that describes DBA policies and procedures.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from a four-year college or university and at least five years of related experience

Competencies/Skills: (partial list – full list on full job description)

  • Provide support for the Oracle databases and related tools for multiple clients.

  • Review and install application updates, enhancements and patches for the Banner ERP and related systems.

  • Review and apply updates to all Oracle Databases.

  • Create, maintain, and upgrade ERP environments including working with team members on webservers.

  • Provide troubleshooting assistance related to the ERP and other related systems.

  • Support the MSSQL Server database environments

  • Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Experience/Knowledge (partial list):

  • Extensive knowledge of Oracle, PL/SQL, RMAN, and database tuning concepts.

  • Ability to troubleshoot database issues and offer effective solutions quickly and accurately.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, documentation, and procedures.

  • Proficiency in UNIX (Linux, Solaris) and Windows environments.

  • Proficiency in understanding/writing shell scripts in a UNIX environment.

  • Proficiency in Database design concepts.

  • Ability to support Microsoft SQL Server

  • Cognos experience.

  • Third party software install/configuration as needed.
