WHAT WE NEED

This role involves coordinating and directing warehouse personnel to ensure the safe transportation and storage of all materials in the warehouse, including ingredients, packaging, finished goods, etc. In addition to coordinating general warehousing, receiving, and distribution activities, this position also supports production lines by coordinating the delivery of raw materials, packaging, etc. to production lines, as well as retrieving finished goods for stock put-aways. Collaboration and flexibility are crucial for success in this role.

  • This position is for 3rd shift (11:00pm to 7:30am) in our Williamson, NY Warehouse.
  • Eligible candidates must have reliable transportation. The facility is not on a bus route.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Trains, coaches, and observe warehouse personnel and ensure that any safety concerns are documented and addressed with all employees. Recommends retraining or procedural changes to enhance safe and efficient operation.
  • Operates forklifts and other equipment as necessary following BRF safety procedures. Maintains awareness of pedestrian traffic, dock, and racking conditions while operating equipment.
  • Inspects and takes necessary corrective actions to ensure that pallet condition and load stability of materials allows for safe handling.
  • Follows all BRF Safety procedures and GMPs. Confirms employee timecards.
  • Supports, monitors, and assigns daily tasks to hourly warehouse personnel, following the direction of the Warehouse Manager. Responsible for any other duties assigned by department manager, as necessary to support business needs.
  • Coordinates dock and trailer transfers with 3rd party carriers, waste pickups for plant waste, recycling, and IBC totes removal. Utilizes company cell phone for all communications regarding business needs.
  • Communicates with Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Production, and other functional areas regarding any issues that impact the timely receipt or transfer of materials as scheduled. Collaborate with team to support resolution of any such issues.
  • Accurately generates and follows bills of lading and pick Lists. Conducts supporting transactions in SAP to update Inventory. Accurately receive products into 3rd party warehouses in SAP system while verifying paperwork for errors or discrepancies.
  • Documents and addresses any errors in paperwork, procedures, or SAP transactions with all warehouse personnel. Leads shift meetings and provides the next shift with current production schedule and any additional information required to ensure a smooth shift hand off and continued operation.
  • Load and offload trailers within standard time allocation and follow specified load distribution instructions. Track and trace all inventory on storage trailers and coordinate movements as needed.
  • Receives, verifies counts, and places raw materials into specified warehouse storage locations. Compares all ingredient statements of packaging to proofs in SAP to validate accuracy.
  • Inspect all inbound and outbound freight and trailer conditions and complete associated paperwork. Take corrective action as required to ensure delivery of freight is in acceptable condition by following the shipping and receiving SOPs and documented inspection procedures.
  • Per established standard operating procedures, receives vendor purchase orders, receives and transfers interplant product, locates product in storage locations, picks truckload and LTL orders in FIFO sequence, loads truckload and LTL carriers.
  • Inspects work area as required to maintain proper housekeeping in accordance with GMP and food safety standards at all times. Ensure that warehouse staff follow all GMPs.
  • Communicates and enforces the requirements of internal and external customer expectations for housekeeping standards and handling practices.
  • Assist and oversee warehouse staff to ensure the organization and cleaning of the facility. Escalates any deficiencies that cannot be immediately corrected to the Warehouse Manager, or appropriate personnel.
  • Reports and takes actions required to correct or rework any damaged materials. Responsible for all freight claim damages and rejections according to SOP. Enter Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARS)
  • Participates in internal audit programs and offers suggestions for improved operations. Ensure that facilities are audit ready at all times.
  • Works with counterparts on other shifts to manage call-ins and coverage for warehouse personnel to ensure all shift responsibilities are accounted for to maintain business needs. Maintain staffing schedule for warehouse employees.
  • Responsible for all initial communications regarding forklift repairs and incident reports.
  • Generate and utilize spreadsheets to sort and verify inventory to compare to current demand for production. Generate weigh-up cart transfers in the SAP and coordinate shipments between facilities.
  • Ensures that email communications are professional and attentive addressing any issues occurring through each shift. Responsible for providing a detailed shift report at the end of shift to all necessary groups.
  • Take an active role and provide input for employee performance appraisals.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Required Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. A minimum of three (3) years of warehouse and/or manufacturing experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of related supervisory and/or leadership experience.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP Systems, preferably SAP.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Although the Group Leader position currently does not involve managing direct reports, they are tasked with overseeing general supervisory duties with the assistance of the Warehouse Manager. During their shift, Group Leads assign tasks to warehouse staff, ensure safety protocols are followed, and enforce company policies. They are also expected to play an active role in resolving conflicts among warehouse employees and escalate any issues or concerns to the Warehouse Manager.

  • The ability to work collaboratively and effectively communicate with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing cross-docks and coordinating with logistics teams.
