PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:
Underwrite residential mortgage loans for sale in the secondary market, as well as portfolio mortgages, home equity loans/lines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Underwrite Conventional mortgage loans pursuant to secondary market guidelines.
- Underwrite residential portfolio loans.
- Underwrite home equity loans and lines, providing approvals within stipulated time frames.
- Underwrite FHA, USDA, VA and residential construction loans (after satisfactory transition period)
- Develop and maintain expert knowledge base related to underwriting requirements of correspondent lending partners (investors).
- Develop and maintain good working relationships with bank loan originators, sales staff and processors.
- Update retail lending policies and operating procedures when necessary.
- Assure proper maintenance of information in Credit and Legal Documentation Files.
- Ensure the bank is meeting compliance requirements for the residential lending business.
- Maintain strong knowledge base on Bank Policies, Laws and Regulations that govern residential mortgage lending.
- Prepare and issue commitment letters and provide to Loan Officers.
- Active participation in demonstrating the behaviors outlined in the GRB Experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a business-related discipline plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience underwriting mortgage loans and retail lending credit analysis, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Active CHUMS # required (may be obtained after satisfactory training/ transition period)
- SAR ID# and SONYMA experience preferred.
- Expert knowledge with FHA regulations and underwriting guidelines.
- Knowledge and experience in the secondary market arena.
- Knowledge of Fannie Mae DU, Freddie Mac LP, and GUS.
