Description of Duties

The Monroe County Law Department is seeking an attorney in its Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office. The Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office prosecutes offenses committed by juveniles, presents petitions for PINS cases, and presents evidence in violation of probation proceedings involving juveniles and in dispositional hearings. The attorney may be required to perform overnight on-call duties as well as appear for after-hours arraignments in court. The employee works under the general supervision of the County Attorney and/or one or more senior level Deputy County Attorneys.

Minimum Qualifications

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE(S):

1. The attorney(s) must be duly licensed to practice law in the State of New York.

2. The ideal candidate(s) will have at least three to five (3–5) years of criminal practice experience. Trial experience prosecuting felonies is preferred.

3. The attorneys(s) must have the ability to work well with judges, lawyers, court administrators, and other individuals within the court system.
