This role is at our Macedon, NY facility.

WHAT WE NEED

Reporting to the Manager Maintenance the Lead General Facilities Technician role is responsible for the operation, preventative, and corrective maintenance of stationary equipment including boilers, generators, air compressors, cooling towers, and chiller while also working on a variety of tasks and projects related to the site, including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and overall facility operations, preventative maintenance, and repairs. This role requires a high level of organization and project management skills, and ability to manage third-party contractor relationships.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Accountable to ensure all facilities maintenance/corrective work is scheduled, effectively executed, and recorded in our CMMS system.
  • Manage third party contractors responsible for maintaining site (snow removal, mowing etc.).
  • Ensure optimal and continuous operation of mechanical systems by performing routine inspections and maintenance, monitoring metering equipment and adjusting levels, as necessary.
  • Manage boiler and process water chemical inventory.
  • Maintain systems by scheduling regular inspections, cleanings, filter replacement and all other tasks necessary to keep all components performing optimally; identify and repair or replace malfunctioning components.
  • Ensure safety by monitoring safety equipment, identifying potential issues and taking appropriate steps to suspend operations and repair the problem.
  • Perform necessary repairs and replacements, obtain replacement parts and upgrade components as needed.
  • Sustain up-to-date knowledge of developments in relevant technology and make recommendations for overhauls and upgrades.
  • Perform frequent inspection checks and regular maintenance on boiler systems and related valves, gauges, piping, and other equipment.
  • Train current maintenance team on the fundamental operations of boilers (blow downs, testing, condition monitoring, and steam supply systems)
  • Perform daily inspections of air, steam, water, and discharge systems are operating correctly.
  • Upkeep and repair of the roof, building, fire protection and alarms, Insurance and risk reduction programs, physical movement, set up/tear down of office furniture,
  • Management of contracts for: site snow removal; driveway, road and parking area maintenance; grounds maintenance, support 3rd party IT installations.
  • Upkeep and repair of overhead doors and affiliated equipment.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of ten (10) years of general maintenance experience, to include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and safety systems.
  • A minimum of three to five (5) years plant experience (Boiler, steam, compressed air)
  • A Stationary Engineer license is a plus.
  • Education, training, or certification in facilities management from a technical school, accredited college and/or university a plus.
  • Boiler Technician Certification highly preferred, and if not completed at time of hire, BRF will support obtaining.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to operate, repair, maintain, and adjust boilers, turbines, pumps, compressors, water lines, steam lines, valves, and all related systems and equipment.
  • Must have experience in an industrial work environment such as factory, power plant, warehouse, and in the equipment rooms of large buildings that run on boiler systems.
  • Knowledge and expertise in general maintenance methods, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understand and comply with government regulations relating to OSHA, FDA, EPA, NEC, and NYS DEC.
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills resulting in ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Able to work autonomously as a strong, independent, critical-thinker, decision-maker, and problem solver.
  • A pro-active, high-energy attitude, geared towards achieving continuous improvement.
  • Track record of excellence, ability to drive change and deliver results.
  • Due to SQF regulations, all employees must be able to fluently read, write, and converse in the English language.


At BRF, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $32.00 and $38.00/hour. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
