Function of Position:
The function of the work-study student employee position is to support custodial operations by assisting with the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of campus facilities. The position also provides students with hands-on work experience that helps develop professional skills such as responsibility, teamwork, communication, and time management.
This position is funded exclusively through Federal Work Study (FWS). Applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office for FWS eligibility prior to being considered for employment. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Perform detailed cleaning tasks, including window cleaning, dusting, vestibule cleaning, and wiping down surfaces.Sweep edges and corners in hallways to maintain cleanliness.Remove gum and other debris from desks and surfaces.Deliver cleaning supplies and materials as needed.Complete vestibule cleaning and other small maintenance tasks assigned by the supervisor. Must be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community CollegeMust maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standingFederal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire)Perform physical tasks associated with custodial work, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling for extended periods.Lift and move materials, supplies, and equipment as required to support departmental operations.Maintain the physical capability to complete routine custodial duties and assigned tasks. Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently.Provide effective communication and customer service to support a positive work environment.Follow directions and complete assigned tasks accurately.Maintain attention to detail while performing daily responsibilities.Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficientlyPay Rate: $16.00/hour
Hours per Week: Up to 20 hours/week
