Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs non-routine dry laboratory research activities involving some complexity and variety. Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and makes simple repairs. Modifies standard equipment to meet special requirements. Extracts data, prepares test reports, and complies with data for studies. Assists in preparing and makes recommendations on designs, sampling, and programs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Plans and performs a variety of moderately complex laboratory tests, analyses, and observations which may require nonstandard procedures and complex instrumentation.
- Troubleshoots malfunctioning equipment and makes simple repairs.
- Constructs components or sub-assemblies of experimental apparatus or prototype models to meet requirements.
- Modifies standard equipment to meet special requirements.
- Extracts data, requiring some theoretical insight and interpretation of empirical data.
- Prepares test reports.
- Operates computer and/or peripheral equipment.
- Assists in preparing programs.
- Compiles data for studies involving human/animal subjects.
- Prepares schematics, specifications, designs, etc.
- Makes recommendations, may review work of lower-classified staff.
- May perform specialized duties in process or service laboratories, such as photography/illustration services.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years of relevant experience required
- Associate's degree preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
