Under the supervision of the Chief Program Officer, the Director of Residential DD Services will oversee the daily operations of all residential programs, operated under the Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) regulatory oversight. Will directly supervise Program Coordinators and other management staff.

  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with representatives of New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), DDRO Developmental Disabilities Regional Office, and other provider organizations to ensure ongoing funding, and coordination of services provided.
  • Represents the agency's position in the provider community, on developmental disabilities issues related to the Hispanic Community.
  • Maintains good working relationship with representatives from other Ibero programs and functions, specifically with Quality Improvement (QI).
  • Facilities a positive working culture for all residential staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring Residential Program Coordinators are trained in regulatory/ agency-mandated areas and in areas to ensure and improve quality of care and staff development.
  • Recruits, interviews, and recommends staff for hire, and undertakes all supervisory tasks.
  • Responsible for assisting Residential Program Coordinators with staffing activities to include interviewing and in accordance with agency policies, procedures and practices.
  • Develops policies, procedures, and practices to improve overall operations of the Division.
  • Monitors progress towards accomplishments of program goals and objectives.
  • Provides financial oversight and regularly monitors program budgets, expenditure, and consumer related accounts, as well as reviews financial reports.
  • Provides case consultation, to staff, specific to their client's needs, and initiate new program services which will benefit clients and their families.
  • Provides ongoing advocacy and education/training to residential staff.
  • Participates in the development of proposals and program planning.
  • Completes a yearly performance evaluation for all direct reports.
  • Participates in local, regional and statewide activities as a representative of Ibero and Ibero's Developmental Disabilities Division.
  • Ensures program compliance with OPWDD and Medicaid standards and regulations.
  • Participates in Incident Review Committee and Human Rights Committee.
  • Conducts regular division operational meetings.
  • Monitor work orders to ensure facilities are compliant with all rules and regulations.
  • Monitors compliance with fleet management and transportation of clients.
  • Provides interim support when needed.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Authority:

This position holds a relatively high degree of independence within the framework of the agency's policies and procedures. The individual must be resourceful and able to display initiative and understanding of management systems and interpersonal relations. Must keep immediate supervisor abreast of issues and concerns which merit intervention from higher level management staff.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Education, Developmental Psychology, Social Work or closely related field.
  • Documented work experience in individual, group and/or family casework.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with people with I/DD and their families.
  • Experience working with community human services providers in developing and coordinating services for clients.
  • Minimum of two years supervisory experience and leading teams.
  • Prior experience working in a residential setting, preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred but not required.
  • Valid NYS Driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • A combination of training and experience other than the specified, if judged to be adequate for the job, may be accepted by the President and CEO.

Physical Demands:

The position does require occasional standing, squatting, lifting of up to approximately 30 lbs. And frequent sitting.
