About the Role

As a classroom teacher, you'll be the primary teacher for students throughout the school day. You're the main link between home and school, advocating for each child's education at Renaissance Academy Charter School of the Arts.

What We're Looking For

We're excited to find candidates who have:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • Valid NYS Teaching Certificate in your subject area and/or ESSA "highly qualified" status

It’s a plus if you have:

  • Previous teaching experience in public or private schools, especially in urban settings
  • Experience working with groups of children and youth in your special skill area

Your Responsibilities

As a dynamic educator, you'll:

  • Collaboratively plan and implement instructional units aligned with New York State Common Core Standards and our curriculum
  • Use data from assessments to monitor student progress toward academic targets
  • Create a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations
  • Work with the classroom instructional team, including associate teachers and specialists
  • Differentiates instruction to meet students' needs
  • Coordinate and co-teach with other teachers to fulfill program requirements
  • Provide an inviting and innovative learning space
  • Evaluate and track student progress
  • Engage in effective classroom management
  • Maintain and enrich your expertise in your subject area
  • Perform other instructional duties as needed
  • Motivate students to uphold high standards of conduct
  • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning using positive behavior approaches
  • Analyze data on student learning to identify areas for improvement
  • Understand and practice professional expectations as defined by the 4 domains of Charlotte Danielson
  • Work collaboratively across disciplines
  • Keep open communication with parents and encourage their participation
  • Organize flexible, goal-oriented groups based on students' instructional needs
  • Ensure lessons are enriched and rigorous, allowing students to elaborate, analyze, and develop creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Attend professional development training
Salary52,000.00 - 65,000.00 Annual
