Description This is a position within the Mayor’s Office of the City of Rochester under the direct supervision of the Chief Data Officer. Analytics Enablement Leaders will be responsible for assessing analytics skills across the organization and identifying areas for growth. Employees in this position will present complex information in a clear and concise manner in order to develop compelling data stories that drive informed decision-making. They will design intuitive data models in analytics tools, craft targeted training programs to upskill City staff, and foster mentorship opportunities to accelerate analytical capabilities. Does related work as required.

This is a Competitive Class position. The individual selected to fill this vacancy will be given a provisional appointment and will be required to participate in the next Civil Service Examination for this title.

A qualified applicant may be provisionally appointed and serve in the position until a Civil Service Examination is administered and an appropriate eligible list can be established to make a permanent appointment in accordance with the Civil Service Rule of Three. CITY RESIDENCY WILL BE REQUIRED WITHIN ONE YEAR OF HIRE


  • Engage data analysts across departments to share data stories, promote collaboration, and create an integrated analytics-driven culture;
  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive data visualization dashboards to showcase technology and best practices for report building, informing unified business decision-making;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements and develop tailored analytics solutions;
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to analysts and business stakeholders on data visualization best practices and analytics techniques;
  • Foster a culture of self-service analytics, enabling business and data analysts to perform data analysis and visualization collaboratively;
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency;
  • Develop and maintain documentation on analytics processes, data visualization standards, and data governance;
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in data visualization, analytics, and business intelligence, and share insights with community leaders to drive innovation and adoption;

A high school diploma or Equivalent PLUS:

A. A Master’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, or related field PLUS five (5) years of full-time experience (or its part-time equivalent) in an applied analytical role;
OR
B. A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, or related field PLUS seven (7) years of full-time experience (or its part-time equivalent) in an applied analytical role.
OR
C. Eleven (11) years of full-time experience (or its part-time equivalent) in an applied analytical role.
