PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

The Compensation & Benefit Specialist is responsible for enhancing human resources operations and programs by performing a variety of routine to complex administrative and technical tasks in all areas of Human Resources with a special focus on the areas of compensation, benefits and employment law compliance. This role is responsible for exercising independent judgment to make decisions in collaboration with leadership in the specialized areas outlined above to continuously foster a value-driven, compliant work culture.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Compensation:

  • Perform market analysis for current and newly created positions; make recommendations for pay adjustments and salary range changes while maintaining internal equity and industry competitiveness.
  • Evaluate job classification and recommend pay grade level and FLSA designations.
  • Work closely with Sr. HR Generalist to recommend competitive job offers within budget and in accordance with compensation program guidelines.
  • Administer GRB’s Incentive/Commission/Bonus Plan documents; update and distribute annually, track signed/acknowledged documentation and coordinate employee communications and payroll processing of the same.
  • Develop and deliver relevant compensation management training for Bank leaders on relevant topics such as wage & hour, FLSA, Bank compensation practices, etc.
  • Work with leaders and Sr. HR Generalist to writing effective and compliant job descriptions and maintain HRIS to ensure descriptions are current and accurate.
  • Conduct and analyze compensation and benefit surveys and conduct peer benchmarking to ensure effective and competitive total compensation practices.
  • Assist in the administration and communication of compensation policies and practices.
  • Provide a secondary review of biweekly payroll. Serve as back up for mortgage incentive compensation payroll processing as needed.
  • Complete quarterly salary budget updates.

 

Benefits:

  • Act as a liaison between employees, benefit carriers and broker
  • Manage the bank’s annual open enrollment process including benefit renewal/negotiation, carrier transitions, communications and enrollment meetings
  • Work with HRIS/Payroll Specialist to program annual enrollment and life events ensuring accurate plan design and data accuracy in the HRIS system
  • Provide Benefits overview to new hires during the orientation process and track to ensure enrollments are completed within 30 days of hire.
  • Respond to benefits inquiries from employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, claim issues, status changes, COBRA and other general inquiries.
  • Develop and administer bank wide wellness programs.
  • Perform quality checks and periodic audits of benefits-related data.
  • Provide back-up to process and administer leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork.
  • Process monthly benefit premium payments
  • Administer COBRA ensuring timely notifications and premium payment to carriers.
  • Participate in benefit surveys and analyze benchmark data to ensure competitive offerings.
  • Recommend changes and/or enhancements to benefit offerings that support the needs of employees and support effective recruitment and retention of talent
  • Effectively interpret laws and regulations as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities and manage requests for reasonable accommodations ensuring compliance with the iterative process.

 

Compliance/Miscellaneous:

  • Produce and manage metrics analyzing trends and identifying process improvement opportunities focused on emerging issues, compliance, enhancing effectiveness, efficiencies, and best practices pertaining to HR operations.
  • Work with HRIS/Payroll Specialist to Manage Federal, state, and internal audit requirements compiling information, data, and responses within mandated deadlines. Ensure comprehensive recordkeeping and documentation for all department policies and procedures to comply with FDICIA controls.
  • Explain and interpret human resources policies, procedures, laws, and standards to new and existing employees. Develop and/or modify policies, procedures, and programs that are consistent with changes to federal and state laws and regulations.
  • Prepare and deliver employee communications to ensure compliance with required notices (Medicare Part D, CHIP, ACA, SAR’s etc.) and to promote benefit utilization
  • Develop and deliver compensation, benefit and compliance training for GRB leadership as needed
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline (Human Resources Management preferred) and a minimum of 4 years’ relevant human resources experience with at least 2 years of compensation and benefits administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Professional certification (CCP, CBS, PHR or SHRM-CP) highly preferred.

  • Must produce a consistently high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information with sensitivity, tact and discretion.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated and well organized.
