Function of Position:
The student employee will assist the MCC Bookstore staff in the daily operations of the store, providing excellent customer service while supporting retail, inventory, and fulfillment functions.
This position may be funded through Federal Work Study (FWS) and/or departmental budgetary funds, depending on eligibility and departmental need. Federal Work Study applicants must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to employment consideration. If you are unsure of your FWS eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying. Applicants must include their M# in any correspondence with the Financial Aid Office.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Greet and assist customers as they enter, browse, and exit the storeAssist with merchandising products, creating displays, and monitoring inventory by stocking shelves and coolersAssist with receiving, pricing, and stocking incoming merchandisePull textbooks from student booklists and assist students on the sales floorPull and process web ordersProvide additional assistance during special events and peak periods, including the first week of classesRemain knowledgeable about current sales and applicable discounts, and assist customers accordinglyPerform general cleaning responsibilities and other duties as assignedWork as a team to provide an excellent customer experienceMCC Expectations:

Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a customer-facing environmentStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to maintain reliable and punctual attendance within a flexible schedule of 5-15 hours per weekMust be currently enrolled as a student at Monroe Community CollegeMust maintain satisfactory academic progress and be in good academic standingFederal Work Study eligibility is required for FWS-funded positions (must be approved by the Financial Aid Office prior to hire)Preferred Qualifications:
Basic understanding of a retail environmentHighly self-motivated, disciplined, enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and able to multitaskBasic math, keyboarding, and data entry skillsPrior customer service or work experience in a retail or campus settingBilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficientlyPay Rate: $16.00/hour
Hours per Week: Up to 15 hours/week
