WHAT WE NEED
The Health & Safety Intern will be assigned projects that align with their educational track and have a direct result and correlation to the best-practices in quality, safety, and environment processes at BRF. The student will work directly with our Manager Health & Safety, and a variety of other individuals within QSE functions.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Assisting BRF in organizing, developing, and implementing necessary environmental programs in order to be compliant to regulatory requirements and customer expectations, projects may include:
- Developing SDS guides for existing chemical materials used within the facility.
- Conducting JSAs for assigned areas/tasks on the production floor.
- Building tools and identifying data sources for various aspects of the health and safety function of the organization.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Required Education/Experience:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program in Safety Science or Occupational Safety, Health, and Applied Sciences. Other relevant degree programs will also be considered.
- Preferred completion of two years of program (going into 3rd or 4th year).
- Must be familiar with GHS classifications, PPE hazard assessments, and must have completed all coursework covering 1910.1200.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Environmental regulatory knowledge.
- GHS classification knowledge.
- Intermediate skills in MS Office – Word and Excel.
- Excellent project management, organizational, and follow-through skill sets.
- Ability to work autonomously.
- Strong oral and written communication as well as interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate with diverse populations.
- Due to SQF requirements, must be fluent, writing and speaking, in the English language.
The base pay rate for this role is $22.00 to $25.00 per hour. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
