Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Bursar, a Student Account Representative is responsible for providing excellent customer service for billing inquiries from students and their families via phone, email and in person.

  • The Student Account Representative manages specialized areas of account responsibilities, working closely with departments and schools across the University. The position provides an opportunity to forge relationships with colleagues in multiple areas of the University including Financial Aid, College Advising, Central Finance, Registrar offices, Graduate departments and other student service areas.
  • He/she conveys information to students and their families regarding payment options, billing policies and procedures, and 1098-T tax forms. A Student Account Representative is responsible for providing detailed student account summaries, as needed. He/she also initiates refund requests in compliance with University procedures and federal regulations. This person must be able to handle challenging situations and customers while maintaining a professional and patient demeanor.
  • Additional duties also include posting student payments and cashiering services to University employees and students and departmental deposit input in a centralized financial system. Other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • AAS degree in business or accounting plus 1-2 years of related work experience with demonstrated customer service experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as well as ability to work with multiple, detail-oriented tasks.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited direction.
  • Strong accounting or math and basic Excel skills required.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $18.65 - $26.11 Hourly

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
