Responsibilities:
GENERAL PURPOSE
Oversees alarm maintenance, fire safety, cameras and building security. Responsible for over-seeing Security Ambassadors on a daily basis and have the ability to quickly observe a situation and act appropriately.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Acts as liaison to Facilities Director, along with Department of Public Safety, to ensure safe and smooth operations of the MAG.
- Performs annual fire alarm and security walkthroughs with outside agencies.
- Acts as main contact for issues pertaining to building’s security equipment and controls.
- Records information found during Alarm and Security Monitor inspections.
- Continues to add to knowledge regarding physical building and reports problems.
- Monitors outdoor surveillance cameras for suspicious behavior.
- Maintains incoming Packages/Parcel log.
- Reports phone communication malfunctions and addresses malfunctions with Finger Lakes Communications. Assists with evacuating the building during fire/emergencies.
- Ensures compliance of applicable policies and regulations while implementing security measures.
- Schedules Security Ambassador department, including regular shifts and security requisitions.
- Schedules staff for events originating from other departments.
- Acts as primary trainer. Assigns and removes keys to staff.
- Oversees key distribution and log, U of R emergency binder, property passes, parking passes, staff emergency lists etc. and maintains these records.
- Controls Visitor/Staff into and out of building. Interacts with staff/visitors/contractors.
- Assists with SA’s annual reviews with Director of Facilities.
- Oversees SA’s while on duty and monitors performance.
- Responsible for recovering funds from departments requesting extra SA service through documentation/billing process.
- Works with DPS to schedule and plan annual 4-hour SA department training.
- Prepares and maintains monthly department training.
- Requests assistance for any incidents requiring documentation.
- Maintains proper documentations and communicates information effectively.
- Works in conjunction with outside agencies for hiring new staff, including the RCSD.
- Supports the Director of Facilities when hiring new employees by conducting reference checks, phone interviews, and is part of the in-person interview team.
- Attends outside trainings.
- Delivers an exceptional customer service experience to museum guests.
- Observes and protects the art collection by patrolling assigned areas.
- Answers visitors’ questions about the collection.
- Explains museum rules to visitors as needed.
- Maintains knowledge of museum access rules.
- Contributes to a team atmosphere through open and clear communication.
- Gains general knowledge of museum activities.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in related field required
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience working with the public preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
- Microsoft/Outlook Experience required
- Excel skills preferred
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and walk the outdoor building perimeter preferred
- Proficient in the use of phone and 2-way radio preferred
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings, holidays and Clothesline Festival required
