The Monroe County Attorney serves as chief legal officer for Monroe County pursuant to the Monroe County Charter. The County Attorney provides legal counsel to the County Executive, County Legislature, and various County officers and agencies. The County Attorney manages and supervises the operations of the Law Department, including oversight of Deputy County Attorneys and legal support staff.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
1. The County Attorney must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
2. The County Attorney must be an attorney duly licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of New York.
3. The County Attorney must possess a minimum of 8-10 years of legal experience, preferably experience in municipal law or general corporate practice.
4. It is preferred that the County Attorney possess experience supervising legal staff and managing legal operations.
