Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide administrative support for Transfusion Medicine. Responsible for departmental administrative activities including, but not limited to, budget development/assistance, procurement, payroll, scheduling, productivity reporting, and duties requiring extensive experience with policies, procedures, and practices of Transfusion Medicine.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Manage all aspects of procurement, including purchasing of reagents, supplies, and blood products. Approve invoices, track expenditures, reconcile ledgers, represent Blood Bank in negotiations with vendors related to contracts and pricing. Prepare/sign memos relative to purchasing and invoice matters. Oversee and advise Blood Bank staff involved with these transactions. (40%)
- Assist in development of, and maintain, Transfusion Medicine administrative/technical procedures and policies in order to ensure compliance with requirements of multiple regulatory agencies. Manage patient antibody database with follow-up to physicians. Coordinate data collation/evaluation, computer validations and computer support for faculty, clinical supervisors and technical specialists. (30%)
- Perform transfusion audit reviews (daily), and HIV lookback verifications. (15%)
- Develop and coordinate monthly staff work schedules. (5%)
- Manage all aspects of payroll including time sheet approval and error resolution. Conduct productivity studies; calculate and maintain on-going productivity records on a monthly basis. (5%)
- Provide faculty support. (5%)
RELATIONSHIPS/AUTHORITY:
Receives minimum direction from Transfusion Medicine faculty and chief supervisor. Directs other clerical staff in related administrative matters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree and /or an equivalent combination of experience and training. One year of relevant administrative experience. Able to work with little or no supervision, excellent communication and organizational skills. Advanced PC skills, i.e. Excel, graphics, and desk top publishing.

Pay Range
Pay Range: $21.36 - $29.90 Hourly
The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
