Designated by the Department of Defense, the American Center for Optics Manufacturing – AmeriCOM – focuses on workforce development, supply chain stability, and manufacturing innovation in the precision optics industry. We are a nonprofit organization located in Rochester, NY, with industry and academic partners throughout the United States. Together, we strive to increase both the capacity of the manufacturing base in the United States and the economic stabilty and career outlook for Americans.
The AmeriCOM management model harnesses the resources of partners in industry, education, nonprofit, and government sectors in order to establish and support multiple optics ecosystems around the country. This coordinated effort establishes and maintains a national network of regional optics ecosystems and grows the number of high schools and two-year colleges offering precision optics programs.
Through a national outreach strategy, the AmeriCOM team is helping to meet the demand for Precison Optics Technicians. As the momentum builds, so does our need for staff to keep this initiative growing.
