Responsible for management of all short-term and long-term investment portfolios, investment settlement operations, investment revenue forecasting, product lines treasury support, external investment manager relationships, and management of internal portfolio investment and support personnel.


Responsibilities

  • Investment Strategy - Develops strategies for the corporation’s investment portfolios by evaluating economic and market data. Develops, recommends and monitors the investment policy to be reviewed and approved by the Paychex Investment Committee of the Board of Directors in conjunction with Sr Manager, Short-Term Investments. Participates in Investment Committee meetings.
  • Investment Team Management - Manages the internal long-term and short-term portfolio investment teams responsible for the management of multiple portfolios with multi-billion-dollar cash flow swings. Provides direction, mentoring and performance management. Fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, professional development, and continuous learning. Evaluates external investment managers and service providers to ensure they meet the Company’s standards and objectives.
  • Portfolio Management – Responsible for forecasting proper portfolio mix between short-term and long-term portfolio allocations. Monitors and manages investment portfolios to ensure optimal performance. Reviews the size and cost of short-term debt for the corporation and recommends its use as approved by management. Manages trade execution of portfolios totaling hundreds of billions annually, with multi-hundred number of trades daily.
  • Portfolio Performance Monitoring and Reporting – Monitors performance of investment portfolios relative to appropriate benchmarks. Ensures appropriate reporting of portfolio performance, investment activities and market insights for senior management.
  • Investment Income Monitoring and Reporting - Projects short-term and long-term investment revenue for operations groups and corporate interest income. Projects expenses for short-term and long-term investment and cash operations groups. Develops and maintains the Treasury forecast and Company strategic plan. Issues the monthly investment report to the Investment Committee and Senior Management.
  • Risk Management – Manages departmental impacts due to growth in new and existing product lines, operational efficiencies, systems technology improvements, governmental regulations, and investment related changes. Recommends Implements risk management strategies to protect the portfolios, including hedging strategies, stress testing, and scenario analyses.
  • Policy and Regulatory Compliance – Assures compliance with investment policy guidelines and develops policy revisions as warranted by portfolio growth and complexity. Monitors accounting, regulatory and other issues affecting the management of the investment portfolio.
  • Investment Credit Analysis – Develops economic and credit analysis for short- and long-term investments. Utilizes a significant portion of our credit information from external long-term investment manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business
  • Master's Degree in Business - Preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in Taxable/tax exempt fixed income investment management experience or the equivalent combination of education, CFA certification and experience.

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $185,000-$215,000 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
