Function of Position:
The LPN Tutor assists MCC LPN Students with learning content and help them think critically and apply content to prepare students for success in the classroom, skills lab, and clinical sites. Provide accurate and timely student-centered feedback. Collaborate with faculty to develop nursing support materials and enhance student outcomes
This position reports to the LPN Program Coordinator and requires working occasional evenings.
Primary Functions:
Meet with students individually and in small groups to reinforce and assist students with understanding content taught in the LPN nursing coursesHelp students apply nursing concepts and think critically about course content and how it applies on exams, in lab, and clinical sitesUse available assessments and student input to target student areas of need. Adapt tutoring methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and abilitiesMotivate, support, and empower students to expand their subject area of confidence and assist them in defining academic success and monitoring progressUtilize the learning management system and tools to work remotely when necessaryHelp students identify and address barriers to their educationMaintain detailed student records and notes of attendance and participationDevelop content-related tutoring materialsMonitor and respond to student inquiries, such as emails and phone calls within a reasonable timeframeRefer students to appropriate resourcesOther duties as assignedSecondary Functions:
Assist in the LPN Classroom and Skills lab on an as needed basisAssist LPN Coordinator in tracking student successMCC Expectations:

Required Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practiceEarned bachelor's degree in nursing, or hold an associates degree in nursing and be enrolled in and actively pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing from a regionally accredited higher education institutionStrong written and oral communication skillsExperience working with a diverse group of students, faculty, and healthcare professionalsPreferred Qualifications:
Earned Master's degree from a regionally accredited higher education institutionKnowledge of NYS Professional Certification process, INB Banner System and Self-Service BannerTeaching experience Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently
Additional Information:
Salary: Hourly wage is $30-$40/hr. depending on experience and credentials

Physical Demands of Position: Moving about while instructing and demonstrating skills to students; reaching, pulling, and pushing while demonstrating while using medical equipment; able to do repetitive tasks; remain stationary at a desk while typing; teaching in a medical facility setting for extended periods.
Working Conditions: Classroom and Lab environment
