Function of Position:
The Student Aide position is designed to train and prepare students for future opportunities within the industry. Student aides must lead by example adhering to rules and regulations of servsafe policies, and scheduling policies.
This is a Federal Work Study position. Eligible applicants MUST have received prior approval from the Financial Aid Office. If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact Financial Aid before applying.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Mis en place: Set up lab demos according to professor's specifications. - Equipment - Sauté pans, pots, utensils, scales, etc.
- Food - Depending on lesson plan for the week - refer to class syllabus for lab specifics
Storerooms/Walk-in Coolers: Make sure food is stored and dated properly; using the FIFO method - Wipe of products in the storerooms
- Arrange in an orderly fashion
- Sweep floors
- Sort utensils in bins
Bins: Clean tops and replace bags as neededStainless Steel Tabletops/Sinks: clean, sanitize and polishWooden Work tables: Clean, sanitizeStove Tops: Clean/Scrubs/SanitizePot/Pan Racks: Clean and OrganizeDish Cabinet in 3-140: Straighten pots and pans, stack like items togetherFood For Thought (FOH): Clean, sanitize and organize coolers/shelves/cabinets/sinksFood For Thought product replenishment: gather and organize lab HSP 102 and FSA 203 product needs, obtaining from the appropriate storeroomsSpecialty event preparation, execution and clean-up (on occasion).MCC Expectations:

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must be Federal Work Study eligible (you can confirm your eligibility with a Financial Aid representative) Food handling in terms of receiving, moving, lifting and storing, previous employment in food service position in a restaurant, hospital, nursing home, etc. OR current Hospitality/Culinary program student.
Preferred Qualifications:
Servsafe certificationCompletion of FSA 109 - Culinary Arts Fundamentals of Food Preparation IBilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Pay Rate: $15.50/hour
Hours per week: Up to 20 hours/week
