Function of Position:
The Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) is seeking responsible and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as part-time Summer Assistants (SAs). Under the supervision of the STEP Director, Summer Assistants play a key role in fostering the academic, personal, and career development of middle and high school students during our summer program. This position offers a meaningful opportunity for those committed to advancing education, youth development, and increasing access to STEM, health-related, and licensed professions.
*This is a temporary, grant funded position.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide classroom assistance during academic and enrichment sessionsTravel with and chaperone STEP students during off-campus field tripsAssist with daily attendance, check-ins, and maintaining accurate student recordsSupervise students during breaks and meals, ensuring a safe and respectful environmentLead or co-lead ice breakers, group games, and team-building activitiesServe as a role model, encouraging positive behavior, personal responsibility, and academic engagementDevelop and maintain professional relationships with students, staff, and college faculty membersParticipate in staff meetings and trainings as scheduledAssist with other program-related projects as assignedMCC Expectations:

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
Earned High School DiplomaMust be currently enrolled in an accredited college or universityAbility to work collaboratively with staff and studentsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsPreferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working with middle and/or high school students, especially in educational or mentorship settingsExperience with technology and social mediaBilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Salary: $23/hour
Schedule: Part-time
