Summary and Purpose of the Position: Reporting to the Director of Learning Support Systems, Professional Tutors are staff who work with students to help them to develop effective learning strategies and to become self-regulated learners. These tutors help students with discipline-specific content.
Function of Position:
Foster the development of independent, intentional learnersDevelop and nurture rapport with students, peers, and facultyCollaborate with faculty on providing workshops and in setting tutoring expectationsAdhere to tutoring center protocol and tutoring expectations as outlined in the Tutor HandbookPromote critical thinking and problem solvingHelp to identify and fill learning gaps with discipline specific contentHelp students understand our learning management system (Brightspace)Prepare students for exams and quizzesSecondary Functions:
Visit classrooms, as needed, to introduce students to tutoring.MCC Expectations:

Some tutoring experience

Pay rate is determined by candidate's degree:
Bachelor's Degree - $17/hr
Master's Degree - $19/hr
PhD - $21.00
